Nintendo: Wii successor coming in 2012

The maker of the mega hit Wii console says it will formally unveil its next system at E3 in Los Angeles in June. To date, it has sold 86 million Wiis. Rumors expect the next system could cost $400 and be far more powerful than the current console.

Not only has the Wii seen a bunch of sales declines in the last year, but for the current year, the software slate is pretty sparse so far. You have Kirby’s Epic Yarn and Mario Sports Mix, and then Zelda: Skyward Sword later in the year. That’s about it from the first-party perspective.

Wii cut to 199 USD spied in US (Ferrago)

Retail led, not official – Nintendo An advertisement said to come from US retail giant Target appears to show that despite Nintendo’s denials the Wii will soon fall in price. The commercial for the week beginning September 27th sees the Wii being sold for 199 USD – the same point as previously speculated – a drop of 50 USD over the current price
